THE MANY OPENING NIGHT

THE MANY opening night, was a celebratory and highly successful event filled with delicious canapés, good company and an amazing crowd.

Craig Brush, Event Manager of Juniper Hall and the Moran Foundation opened the event and welcomed us to the space. Course convener Dr. Julie Louise Bacon then acknowledged the original owners of the land, the Gadigal people of Eora, and preceded to thank the Moran Foundation for their support and enthusiastic approach on this collaborative exhibition, and the launch of the partnership between the Moran Foundation and UNSW Art and Design. Bacon also gave thanks to the sponsors, the artists and the curating team, for their contribution on THE MANY exhibition.

The audience was invited to experience THE MANY through the selection of video, sound, sculptural, photographic and installation works framed within the architectural setting of Juniper Hall and surrounding grounds. The work exhibited in THE MANY engaged with the restless questions of ownership, function, identity and legacy.

The energy was palpable, with the animated crowd conversing and traversing through the exhibition rooms. The acoustics – composed and organic – extended from room to room enhancing the sensory experience, echoing themes of the presence and absence framed in the artists’ works.  The audience gave agency and language to the aesthetic perspectives offered by the artists and the Site and Situation curatorial team.

We thank everyone who came to the opening and supported us along the way.
